WalkJogRun GPS Running Routes App Reviews

Gps not bad - interface useless

The app claims to have the most accurate gps. I have found this to be fairly true. However it also has one of the most unintuitive useless interfaces of all of the running apps. This goes for the app and the site. For example - Just changing your default units from miles to km should be easy and should obviously affect the app and the site for your account. This is not the case. Weird - or just lazy programming? The gps seems to work well with previously defined routes and the interface to create new routes on the iphone is pretty good. However gps tracking the creation of new routes is just as inaccurate as the other apps. I imagine that this is unavoidable - but still... The app does claim gps accuracy without any other clairification. There also seems to be bugs in the information logging on the site. The average pace per km over all my runs is totally inaccurate. Again... these types of bugs seem too simple to be tolerated for an app that is the same price as its more polished competitors. It seems like more of a work in progress with some good ideas for improving gps accuracy.

Great app

Its easy to use and useful to track your run. Both race and training.

Very useful companion

Find it a very useful app, even though not using it an iPhone, works just as well with an iPad.

Very buggy on the iTouch

This app doesnt work on the iTouch. It doesnt detect that you dont have GPS, and it wont load the routes I have saved on their website. They probably should have tested it more before releasing it on the store. I am sure they will fix it, but maybe wait a bit if you have an iTouch.

Looking fwd to using it while travelling

Im not sure why they say this us for the touch, as it does seem to require the gps in order to find nearby routes. For the iPhone it is great! It brought up loads of nearby routes. I am especially looking forward to trying it when I am travelling and looking for a good route to try. Seems reasonably priced, given what it does. Thanks!

One star missing

Im a coach, and i run a lot. I really love this app because when i run in new places, not only do i discover, but time passes faster, because yes, sometimes running is long. This lovely app gives me routes, and calories so that I know where Im going. I cannot review the fitness plans offered because I make mine myself, its my job. This app misses one star because sometimes i make my route myself. And lord do I hate running next to cars exhausts and long straight lines. So I run on cycling trails in the forest. Its hard to calculate my cals and my distance (sometimes my nike+ isnt accurate and I use WalkJogRun app to calibrate it). On the web, I have to do all those little straight lines to approximate the turns on the trail. NEED: the GPS trail maiking thing they say they dont have. I know its big, but five star is big to me, and I dont give it for free. So work on that boys, this is a must app for anybody cycling or running on new tracks.

Great App

I am using this on the 1st gen iPod touch and it works great. You have to make sure that you load the app and your route before you start running. I actually does track where you are using the wifi. It worked for me anyways. It works really well when you create a route on the website and then it automatically loads your routes from your account. Its really easy to create routes as well. I ran with a GPS unit and compared it to the route that I created. The GPS said 4.89km and the route was calculated at 5.1k - so thats pretty close. But the accuracy of the routes is probably dependant on Google Maps. If your looking for exact accuracy then get a GPS. But for 2 bucks, and to create a free account, you cant go wrong. I definitely would recommend it for any runner!

Good app!

Good app! I like it to track my routes, find new routes and log how far my routes are. Very helpful training for a 5K. Also, its great to use with my grade one students for mapping. I put it up on the SMARTboard and they can trace routes with their fingers. Weve used it a lot for walks around the school neighborhood.

Pretty sweet!

I really like this app - it gives you instant access to a ton of great running routes and even programs to help you build up your stamina and fitness! The only downside (hence the 4-star rating) is that you need an wifi connection in order to use the app. Walkjogrun.net has vowed to make the next version of the app available offline, and I look forward to that happening so that I can use the app more and more! Highly recommended!

Great App

Just finished my first half marathon and using this App helped me a great deal. I just love it tis so easy to use I highly recommend this app !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lisa Westlake

Makes my bike riding interesting

I like this app. I am able to find many interesting new routes for bike riding. I am surprised by how many people in my area have recorded routes. Would love to see it record my route for me, and would like to see calorie consumption numbers for cycling.

Love it

Use it all the time

Love it!

Saves me from having to print out run routes and risk them getting soggy from sweat or the elements. Also great to show others in my run club that didnt look at my mapped out run online on the fly. Lastly great for finding routes when I travel!

Good app

Great way to find and create routes. The training side notification or alerts dont function properly. I downloaded 2 traing plans an after 2 days the app said there were 45 notifications or alerts but could not find them anywhere. Even deleting app and reinstalling did not help.

So So Disappointed

I am not happy with the app. As far as plotting a route it is much easier on my Garmin connect.this is not as user friendly on my iPad for plotting. Available maps are okay but there are many more choices on my Garmin connect and it downloads info from my Garmin too. As far as the training schedules I feel ripped off. There are no 3 run day training schedules not everyone can or likes to run 4 days a week. People say just modify it myself but then whats the point of buying the app. As far as value for dollar Im not impressed this falls more in the free or$0.99 range!

Not Impressed

This App falls more into the gimmick area. They got a known fitness name behind them and slapped a GPS interface around an inflexible and very basic scheduling module. They have the nerve to charge for this! If the are serious, they will do the following: 1). Immediately refund everyone and provide free access until they deliver a useful system; 2). A diary to record progress is required; 3). Incorporate a flexible scheduling module where the user can customize the parameters; 4). Respond to constructive email requests from users.

Sun Run Leader

Great app. Its nice to create a route to share with friends and participants

Great improvements!!

Fantastic improvements! Creating route is great!! Would like to see a few improvements: - find route always places the marker off the coast of Africa rather than my current location - would like to see a quicker way to access my routes other than a filter - would be great if we cold edit/delete existing routes (maybe I missed how this is done?!) Keep up the great work!!

Love the new changes

I didnt love this app at first, but now that I can track my runs from my iPad and not just my pc I am recommending it to all my running or walking friends.

:)

Exactly what Ive been looking for!!!
